Through the use of PowerPoint, lecture and written materials, participants will gain additional information that will assist any SSI beneficiary who wishes to return to work at any level of activity. Proper planning and information is critical to this effort and participants will gain the knowledge necessary to help ease this transition. Online polling will be used to test participant knowledge and utilization of the various provisions. A preparatory reading assignment will be provided and is required.

The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and the 2010 Building Code of New York State’s Accessibility Requirements for Commercial Occupancies

This 4 hour program will provide attendees with an overview of the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design and highlight those areas where accessibility requirements found in the 2010 Building Code of New York State differ from federal accessibility requirements. Specifically, this course will focus on: problem application areas in commercial facilities, accessibility requirements in existing facilities and accessibility requirements to and within special occupancies. We will also focus on the new guidelines for toilet rooms and other aspects of the built environment. DMEC Leadership Series: Best Practices in the Integration of Short and Long Term Disability Claims

While a majority of employees return to work before the end of their short-term disability benefit ends, what happens to those who transition to a long-term disability claim? This leadership series will address how employers manage the transition of employees from short- to long-term disability and best practices in keeping the lines of communication open between the employee, manager, carrier, and physician. Panelists will discuss how they work with carriers and physicians to create effective return to work plans for employees who are able to return from a long-term disability and how they manage the process for those employees who are unable to return to work.
